JC GRAFIK STUDIO IS MY LATEST PERSONAL IDENTITY TRANSFORMATION, WHERE I HAVE ALLOWED MYSELF TO EXPERIMENT WITH DESIGN AND THE USE OF FORM AND FUNCTION IN WAYS THAT I HAVEN'T DONE SO BEFORE.

THE ICON CREATED FOR MY INITIALS, WAS FIRST BASED ON THE FONT "MONT BLACK". I PROCEEDED TO USE THE GOLDEN RATIO TO DEVELOP ALL CURVES TO A PERFECT PROPORTION. I ALSO DECIDED TO USE A 60 DEGREE ANGLE IN ALL TERMINALS FOR A CONSISTENT SHARP ENDING.

I DECIDED TO USE THE GOTHAM TYPEFACE BECAUSE OF ITS PERFECT GEOMETRY AND LARGE X-HEIGHT WHICH MAKES IT A VERY POPULAR FONT. IT ALSO HAS A WIDE SELECTION OF WEIGHTS THAT ARE VERY LEGIBLE IN DIFFERENT SIZES AT A DISTANCE.

I CHOOSE AS MY PRIMARY COLOR A MARINE BLUE WHICH IN COLOR 
PSYCHOLOGY IS CALM, THOUGHTFUL, AND REPRESENTS A SENSE OF INNER REFLECTION. I LOVE THE CONTRAST AND ELEGANCE WHEN COMBINED WITH BLACK WHICH I TEND TO ALTERNATE WITH DEPENDING ON THE USE. FOR INSTANCE, MARINE BLUE IS USED AS THE DOMINANT COLOR FOR THE IDENTITY, BUT FOR PROMOTIONAL PIECES BLACK IS THE DOMINANT ONE.
